CYNIC sind auf ihrem neuen Album “Ascension Codes“ mehr als nur kreativ unterwegs. Auf ihrem neuesten Werk beschreitet die Combo klanglich als auch stilistisch neue Wege, ohne ihre progressiven Metalwurzeln zu verlieren. Als aufmerksamer Konsument weiß man teilweise gar nicht, wie einem geschieht, sobald CYNICs farbenfroher Dschungel zum Leben erwacht. Fast schon meditativ wirkt die musikalische Landschaft, welche Paul Masvidal kreiert. Die Band ist ihrer Zeit immer noch weit voraus.
Wenn es einen legitimen Nachfolger der legendären Necrophagist gibt, dann sind das OBSCURA. Wie Steffen Kummerer und seine Bandmitglieder technische Finessen und eingängiges Songwriting verbinden, ist wohl einzigartig. Ihre aktuelle Platte «A Valediction» bestätigt dies erneut eindrucksvoll!
